Prologue
This is a blog site that I created over 2 years ago, and never did much with. I originally created it to use at my old job, but it applies just as well to what I'm doing now, which is working as a technology coach, technically [cheesy pun intended] an "Instructional Technology Integration Specialist" for Region 9 of the NYC Department of Education. I no longer teach (much to some of my former students' anger), but when I did, I taught high school English at Murry Bergtraum High School in downtown Manhattan. I may return to teaching at some point, because I really do miss it--that's where my heart is truly at--but for now, this job keeps me interested and keeps me sane and allows me to have time for my family. These are good things.
The last three years have been a bit crazy for me. I changed jobs three times, I got married, I had a baby, I moved into a new home...more good things, but especially since the baby arrived, I've been kept from keeping up with writing, keeping up-to-speed with new technologies, and delving into projects, such as this one. So though Alex is still a tender 6 months young, I'm going to try to keep up as best as I can.
A colleague of ours just unveiled his ed-tech blog at a meeting on Friday, and it was great. Tony had created a blog site just like I once wanted to here on this site. I mentally kicked myself in the ass--why had I put this off for so long? Well, after some reflection, I realized that I had some good reasons, but I also made up my mind to get to it.
The baby is sleeping next to me, and so what better time than this to get started?
I hope this blog will be useful to anyone interested in technology, education, technology in education, or anyone who has the time to listen to the rants of a semi-conscious woman typing between diaper changes about the combined passions of her life.
